The complete NCERT Biology chapter list for NEET — all 32 chapters of Class 11 and 12 with free PDF links, page counts, and a simple order to read them in.

If you are preparing for NEET, NCERT Biology is not one source among many — it is the source. Biology is half the paper, and the questions are written from the language, diagrams and examples of the NCERT textbooks.

This page lists every chapter of the current NCERT Biology books for Class 11 and Class 12, each linked to a free PDF you can read online or download. No login.

In what order should you read NCERT Biology for NEET?

There is no single correct order, but this one works for most students because it builds each idea before it is needed:

  1. Cell first. Cell: The Unit of Life, Biomolecules and Cell Cycle and Cell Division (Class 11) are the vocabulary for everything else.
  2. Then genetics. Principles of Inheritance and Variation and Molecular Basis of Inheritance (Class 12) lean directly on cell division.
  3. Human physiology as one block. Class 11 chapters 14–19 (breathing, circulation, excretion, locomotion, neural and chemical control) read best back to back.
  4. Plant physiology as one block. Photosynthesis, respiration in plants, and plant growth.
  5. Diversity and structure. The Living World through Structural Organisation in Animals — these are heavy on names and examples, so do them in short daily sessions rather than one long sitting.
  6. Reproduction, biotech, ecology from Class 12 to finish.

How to actually read NCERT Biology

  • Read every line, including boxes, figure captions and tables. Many questions come from text that students skim past.
  • Redraw the diagrams. If you can draw and label it from memory, you can answer the question about it.
  • One page of notes per chapter. You will revise from these, not from the book, in the last two months.
  • Read it more than once. The first read is for understanding. The second and third reads are where the details stick.

Printing NCERT Biology

If you print chapters, put two textbook pages on one A4 sheet with the free pages-per-sheet tool — the text stays readable and you use half the paper.
